The new generation MT800B machines are powered by the latest in environmentally sensitive engine technology - ACERT® from Caterpillar®. All models now meet the strict Tier III diesel engine emission regulations set by the EU, one year ahead of the official deadline.

Boasting the broadest range of horsepower choices in the category, big just got bigger, with a 10 hp increase to the whole range, and the introduction of the new MT875B at a staggering 570 hp (424 kW).

Challenger tracked tractors now offer even more variety and versatility to allow you to tackle any project, with minimum impact on the environment.

Emissions regulations are becoming increasingly strict, providing major challenges for machinery manufacturers and farmers around the world. Newly developed engines from Caterpillar build on proven systems and components to provide a single, flexible solution to ensure that these regulations can be met now and in the future.

Innovative ACERT® technology from Caterpillar is a series of evolutionary, incremental improvements that provide breakthrough engine technology. It works on the basis that optimal combustion efficiency produces minimal emissions.

The sophisticated technology monitors the four core engine systems:

  • fuel,
  • air,
  • electronics and
  • after treatment.

The 350 hp (260 kW) MT835B, the 400 hp (298 kW) MT845B and the 460 hp (342 kW) MT855B tractors are powered by new CAT® C15 ACERT™ 15.2 liter engines.

The two largest models, the MT865B and the new MT875B are powered by CAT® C18 ACERT™ 18.1 liter engines, providing rated power at 510 hp (380 kW) and an industry-leading 570 hp (424 kW) respectively.

The Air Management System uses turbochargers to force cool, clean air into the combustion chamber. Electronics control the volume required at various loads and speeds. Cross-flow heads and four valves per cylinder dramatically improve air control to improve:

  • engine response, and
  • increase fuel economy and
  • performance.

The HEUI Fuel System ensures that small, multiple shots of fuel are injected into the combustion chamber at the appropriate time before and after main injection, as determined by the Electronic Control Module (ECM). Rate shaping - the control of fuel delivered during ignition delay and main injection - is made possible by the HEUI’s ability to operate independent of engine speed. Engine performance is optimised by varying the idle and light load rate characteristics independent of rated and high load conditions. All of this helps to improve combustion, reducing emission and noise levels.

The CAT® Electronics ADEM 4 Electronic Control Module is fully integrated to achieve reduced emissions while still maintaining excellent fuel economy, power and performance.

While the fuel and air management systems control the combustion process to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions, the engine has been designed to adopt additional technology to satisfy future requirement , such as a diesel oxidation catalyst mounted in the exhaust system.

The new MT800B-Engine supply maximum performance and efficiency in all Challenger B series tracked tractors, with awesome pulling power to pull through the toughest spots in your field.
